Creating a virtual audio input – Windows

SYQEL Desktop on Windows hears your computer’s audio directly, with no virtual cable:

• Pick App Audio and the app’s name to hear one app (Windows 10 build 19041 or later).
• Or pick your speakers or headphones, listed by their own name, to hear everything playing through them.

You need a virtual audio device only if:

• you use the web app, which can only hear inputs,
• your music app sends audio straight to its own driver (ASIO) instead of through Windows, so SYQEL can’t hear it, or
• you want to send one mix to several apps at once.

Setting up VB-Cable (free)

1. Download VB-Cable, unzip it, right-click the setup file and choose Run as administrator. Restart when asked.
2. In your music app, set the audio output to CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable). Use a Windows driver such as WASAPI, MME or DirectSound, not ASIO.
3. To keep hearing the music, open the Sound control panel (Settings › System › Sound › More sound settings). On the Recording tab, open CABLE Output, go to Listen, tick Listen to this device and choose your speakers or headphones.
4. In SYQEL, pick CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) in the audio source list. If it isn’t there, click the refresh button (↻). On the web, it has ”— system audio” after its name.
