Selecting The Audio Input
The audio source list sits at the left of the top bar, next to the SYQEL wordmark. It shows the source you are using now.
- When your browser asks to use your microphone, click Allow. Until you do, the list shows only Microphone, and SYQEL can’t name your other inputs.
- Open the audio source list and pick your input: a microphone, an audio interface, or a virtual audio device (shown with ”— system audio” after its name).
- Play some music. The Input meter at the right of the stage should move.
If you plugged in or installed a device after opening SYQEL, click the refresh button (↻) next to the list.
You can switch sources at any time without stopping the visuals, and SYQEL remembers your choice for next time.
Visualizing music playing on your computer
The web app hears only microphones and audio inputs, not other apps or tabs. You have two options:
- Route the music through a virtual audio device and pick that device. See Creating a virtual audio input.
- Use SYQEL Desktop, which hears any app directly. See Audio sources in SYQEL Desktop.
The input isn’t listed
- Windows: check that the device appears under Settings › System › Sound › Input.
- Mac: check that the device appears in System Settings › Sound › Input.
- Make sure the browser has microphone permission for vj.syqel.com, then reload the page.
