Creating a virtual audio input

The web app can only hear a microphone or an audio input. To visualize music playing on your computer, such as Spotify, a DAW or DJ software, send that audio into a virtual audio device. The device then shows up in SYQEL as an input.

Using SYQEL Desktop? You don’t need any of this: pick App Audio and the app’s name in the audio source list. See Audio sources in SYQEL Desktop.

Pick a virtual audio device

• Mac: BlackHole (free) or Loopback (paid, and simpler to set up). Step-by-step: Creating a virtual audio input – Mac.
• Windows: VB-Cable (free). Step-by-step: Creating a virtual audio input – Windows.

Then, in SYQEL

1. Open the audio source list at the left of the top bar. If the device isn’t there, click the refresh button (↻), or reload the page.
2. Pick the virtual device. The web app adds ”— system audio” to its name, for example BlackHole 2ch — system audio.
3. Play music. The Input meter at the right of the stage should move.
