Audio Selection

SYQEL’s visuals move to whatever it hears. You choose what it hears in the audio source list at the left of the top bar.

What the web app can hear

In a browser, SYQEL can listen to:

• A microphone, such as your laptop’s built-in mic.
• An audio input or interface, such as a DJ mixer or sound card plugged into your computer.
• A virtual audio device, such as BlackHole, Loopback or VB-Cable. The list marks these with ”— system audio”, because they carry sound from your computer.

A browser cannot hear another app or browser tab directly. That is why the top bar shows a locked Computer audio button on the web.

Music playing on your computer

To visualize Spotify, a DAW or DJ software in the web app, route it through a virtual audio device. See Creating a virtual audio input.

SYQEL Desktop for Mac and Windows hears any app directly, with no extra setup: you pick App Audio and the app’s name. See Audio sources in SYQEL Desktop.
