How to pick your stream quality and test your connection

Watch: How to pick your stream quality and test your connection

SYQEL Live makes one stream and sends a copy to each destination. So each platform you add needs its own share of your upload speed.

The three qualities

QualityBitrate per platform
720p · 30about 3.5 Mbps
1080p · 30about 6 Mbps (the default)
1080p · 60about 9 Mbps

The same quality goes to every destination.

Test your connection

  1. Switch on the destinations you plan to use. See Multistream to every platform.
  2. Open the Streaming page.
  3. Under Quality, press Test my connection.
  4. Wait 10 to 20 seconds. SYQEL Live measures your upload and counts your destinations.
  5. It shows a recommended quality, your measured upload, and what your destinations need.
  6. Pick the recommended quality.

How much upload you need

  • Each platform adds a full stream. Two platforms need about twice the upload of one.
  • The test adds some safety room, so its number can be higher than the bitrates above. This keeps your stream smooth if your internet dips.
  • If your upload is too low for 1080p, the test recommends 720p. It never picks 1080p · 60 for you. Choose that one yourself if you have plenty of upload.

Tips

  • Test again when you change the number of destinations, or stream from a new place.
  • A wired network connection is steadier than Wi-Fi.
  • If you can’t carry every platform, stream to fewer, or drop to 720p.
  • After the show, check for drops in Analytics.
