Sync visuals to the kick drum: pick the instrument for each effect in SYQEL Studio
You know which part of a track should hit hardest. The Effects Board, on the right side of SYQEL Studio, lets the visual follow it.
Every Studio visual is a scene with parts that can move. Each of those is an effect: the lightning, the moonlight, the speed of the flight. Each effect is animated by one driver:
- Instruments: Vocals, Bass, Guitar & keys, Kick, Snare, Toms and Cymbals.
- The shape of the song: Energy, Build-up, Drop and Silence.
When the snare owns the lightning, you see the snare.
Change the instrument for an effect
- Play some music. See Let your visual listen to your music.
- Find the effect on the board. In the video, it’s the lightning, animated by the Snare.
- Open its driven by menu and pick a new instrument, such as Kick. Now the lightning flashes on the kick.
- Turn up the strength slider to make it bolder: Off, Subtle, Medium or Strong.
To switch an effect off, pick Not used. Some effects react to hits, so only drivers with hits can own them.
Solo: see what one instrument moves
The strip at the top, Solo · who drives what, has a button for each driver. Tap one, like Kick, and only its effects move. Tap it again to see everything.
More on the board
- Default and Mine: compare your version with the original. See Compare your custom visual with the original.
- Drive and Follow: one world moved by the music, or one element per instrument. See Follow mode.
- Presets and Import: keep several looks for one visual. See Save and load presets.
- Save in the top bar keeps the visual in your account, so it plays in SYQEL Desktop and SYQEL Live. See Save your visual and play it in SYQEL Desktop.
Tips
- Change one effect at a time, then listen to a whole chorus.
- Changing the board doesn’t use AI credits. Try it before you ask the AI for a change.
- If a visual feels busy, set a few effects to Not used.
