Crossfade between visuals
Out of the box, a new visual cuts in. Turn on Crossfade and each visual fades into the next instead: Shaders, Image Visuals, Scenes, Milkdrop and Worlds alike.
Turn it on
- Open Settings (the cog in the top bar) and choose Playback.
- On the Crossfade card, click On.
- Drag the card’s slider to set how long the fade takes, from 0 to 10 seconds. The default is 2.
It works in SYQEL Desktop and at vj.syqel.com. Changes apply straight away, on the stage and on your output.
Change the length mid-set
The Crossfade field in the Now Playing panel sets the same length, so you don’t need to open Settings. Type a new number of seconds there.
With Crossfade off
Visuals cut from one to the next. Milkdrop presets still blend into each other over the same length, as they always have. That’s why the Now Playing field is called Milkdrop fade while Crossfade is off.
Tips
- A longer fade suits slow, ambient sets. A short one (under a second) keeps up with fast cuts.
- Crossfade works in every Cycle Mode, and when you press Next or Previous. See Visualizer Playback Behavior.
