Milkdrop

Milkdrop is the music visualizer that shipped with Winamp, and its presets are still some of the trippiest visuals around. SYQEL plays them through Butterchurn, a WebGL version of Milkdrop, as one of its five visual feeds.

Play only Milkdrop

1. Click Playing from at the right of the performance bar.
2. Under Feeds, pick Milkdrop.

Milkdrop presets also play as part of All visuals, and you can add them to any playlist alongside shaders and image visuals.

Crossfade between presets

Milkdrop presets always blend from one into the next. Set how long the blend takes with the slider on the Crossfade card in Settings › Playback (0–10 seconds, default 2), or with Milkdrop fade in the Now Playing panel. To fade every kind of visual, not only Milkdrop, switch Crossfade to On. See Crossfade between visuals.

Adjust a preset

Milkdrop presets have one setting of their own: Sensitivity, which sets how hard the preset reacts to your music. Open Settings › Library, click the preset, and move the Sensitivity slider under Adjust. It’s kept as soon as you move it.

To change how every visual reacts to bass, mids and highs, use Frequency Reactiveness. It applies to Milkdrop too.

Add your own presets

• On desktop: import Milkdrop presets in .json format from a folder on your computer. See Importing Milkdrop Visuals.
• In your browser: the Import Milkdrop folder button in Settings › Import is locked, because a browser can’t read a folder of files that way. Import your presets in SYQEL Desktop for Mac or Windows.
