SYQEL Studio quick start: create and customize a visual in 5 steps

Watch: SYQEL Studio quick start: create and customize a visual in 5 steps

SYQEL Studio is where you make visuals yours. It runs in your browser at studio.syqel.com, with your SYQEL account.

You can do two things there:

  • Customize a visual. Pick any SYQEL visual and choose which instrument animates each part of it.
  • Make a new visual. Describe it in your own words and the AI builder makes it.

Save it, and it’s waiting in SYQEL Desktop and SYQEL Live, ready to play behind your set.

Chapters

The screen

  • Top bar: the SYQEL Studio logo opens the library. Next to it are Present, the name of the open visual (with a ▾), + New, Remix and Save.
  • Centre: the stage, where the visual plays. The music controls sit under it.
  • Right: the Effects Board, where you choose what animates each effect.
  • Left: the AI builder. It shows only while you make or change a visual with AI.

1. Find a visual

Studio opens on your library: every SYQEL visual, in packs.

  1. Search by name, or filter by what the visuals react to.
  2. Click a visual to open it.

More: Find a visual in the library.

2. Let it listen to your music

A visual stays still until it hears music.

  1. Open a song file, or share a browser tab or your system sound.
  2. The visual starts moving with the music.

A song file plays on your computer and is never uploaded. More: Let your visual listen to your music.

3. Choose what animates it

On the Effects Board, every effect is animated by an instrument. In the video, the lightning moves from the snare to the kick, so it flashes on every kick.

More: Pick the instrument for each effect.

4. Make one with AI

  1. Press + New.
  2. Describe what you want to see, and press Send.
  3. Studio writes the visual, checks it on your music and fixes anything that fails, on its own.
  4. Then put its effects on the instruments you want. In the video, the drone swarm goes on the drums: thrown wide on every kick, surging upward on the snare.

Making visuals with AI uses AI credits. More: Make music visuals with AI and How to prompt the AI builder.

5. Save it

Press Save. The visual is saved to your SYQEL account, and only you can see it.

Studio visuals load into SYQEL Desktop and SYQEL Live. SYQEL Desktop plays them alongside any app that makes sound on your computer, including Serato and rekordbox, so your own visuals follow your DJ set. More: Save your visual and play it in SYQEL Desktop.

Tips

  • Use a recent Chrome or Edge.
  • Keep the Studio tab in front while music plays. Browsers slow down tabs you can’t see.
  • Watch every SYQEL Studio video in order on the Studio tutorials page.
