How to prompt SYQEL Studio's AI builder for custom DJ visuals

Watch: How to prompt SYQEL Studio's AI builder for custom DJ visuals

A prompt like “a cool visual that pulses to the beat” gives the AI builder nothing to work with. It needs a scene made of separate things that can each move. Each of them becomes an effect, and then you decide on the Effects Board which instrument drives it.

So a great prompt describes the picture and what can move. It never describes the music.

The five parts

Write them in this order. In the video, they are typed one part at a time for a surprise birthday party.

  1. The place and the mood. “A night flight down a mountain valley on Halloween.”
  2. The hero: the one thing your eye goes to. “A flock of bats flying toward the camera.”
  3. Six or so other things, each one separate, so each can move on its own. “A big moon over the ridges, a sea of clouds below, mist between the peaks, stars, glowing embers.”
  4. One single, visible job for each of them. These become the effects you connect to the music. “The moon glows brighter and swells. Lightning flashes behind the ridges. The flock scatters wide and regroups.”
  5. The colours and the camera. “Deep purple-blue sky, warm orange moonlight, a slow forward flight that banks gently.”

What to leave out

  • Don’t name instruments. You choose those on the board afterward.
  • Skip text, logos and real people.

Drive or Follow

Pick Drive for one world that moves as a whole, or Follow when each instrument should get its own element. See Follow mode.

Send, then map it

Press Send. Every part of the scene you described shows up as an effect on the board. Then put each one on an instrument. In the video, the cake jumps on every kick with a shockwave, the spotlights flare with it, and the confetti blows outward on the snare. See Pick the instrument for each effect.

Two more things worth saying

  • What the drop does. “At the drop we burst up through the clouds into a sea of clouds under the moon.”
  • What quiet looks like. “When it is quiet, a slow glide under a dim moon.”

Tips

  • One clear idea. A stranger should name it in two seconds.
  • Fewer, bigger elements beat many tiny ones. Visuals play on big screens across a room.
  • A birthday, a wedding, New Year’s Eve: describe it, and it’s yours.
  • One change per follow-up request works best. See Edit a visual with AI.
