Play your SYQEL Studio visuals in SYQEL Desktop

Make or edit a visual in SYQEL Studio and save it. SYQEL Desktop brings it in for you, ready to play with your music.

Find them

  1. Sign in to SYQEL Desktop with the same SYQEL account you use in Studio.
  2. Open Settings (the cog in the top bar) and choose Library.
  3. Click the My Studio visuals chip. The number on it is how many you have.
  4. Click a visual to play it.

The panel on the right says where each one came from: Created in Studio, or Edited from and the name of the visual you started with.

Nothing there yet? The Library says so, with a link to studio.syqel.com. To save a visual in Studio, see Save your SYQEL Studio visual and play it in SYQEL Desktop and Live.

Play them as a set

Your Studio visuals also make a playlist called My Studio visuals. You’ll find it:

  • in Settings › Playlists, under From Studio,
  • in Playing from on the stage, under Playlists.

Pick it, and SYQEL plays your Studio visuals. You can give it a key or a MIDI pad, like any playlist. You can also add a Studio visual to your own playlists from the Library. See Adding a visual to a playlist.

Keeping them up to date

SYQEL Desktop checks Studio for changes:

  • when you sign in,
  • when you click Sync Now in Settings › Account Sync,
  • when you come back to the SYQEL window (at most every two minutes).

Changed a visual in Studio? It updates here. Deleted it in Studio? It leaves here too. While it checks, the Library shows Checking Studio for changes….

Good to know

  • Edit in Studio, play in Desktop. Studio visuals can’t be renamed, saved as a copy or deleted in SYQEL Desktop. Make the change in Studio and save. You can still set their Sensitivity in the Library panel.
  • They play offline. SYQEL Desktop keeps a copy on your computer, for your account only.
  • SYQEL Desktop app only. Studio visuals come to SYQEL Desktop on Mac and Windows, not to the web app at vj.syqel.com.
  • One won’t play? SYQEL checks each visual when it arrives. If one can’t run on your computer, the Library names it and says why, and it never reaches your output.
